Physicochemical Properties: White amorphous powder, odorless, smell-less and nontoxic. It is soluble in acid and ammonium salt solution, difficult to dissolve in water, and insoluble in alcohol. And can be changed into crystal by high-temperature burning above 1000℃, and into dead-burned magnesium oxide or sintered magnesium oxide above 1500℃. When meeting with carbon dioxide in the air, it shall produce basic magnesium carbonate.
Use: It is used to process pottery and porcelain, enamel, refractory pot and refractory bricks, etc. and used as fillers of polish, adhesive, paint and paper; accelerating agent and activating agent of chloroprene rubber. After mixed with magnesium oxide solution, it can be used to produce magnesium oxide cement. In pharmaceutical industry, it can be used as anti-acid agent and laxatives; and for gastric acid too much, gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer. And it also can be used in glass, dyestuff, phenolic plastics, etc. As food-grade products, it can be used as decolourizing agent for granulated sugar refining and pH regulator of ice cream powder, etc.
